Why ThunderCats Roar shouldn't have been a big deal

When ThunderCats Roar was announced last month, I didn’t think much of it. My only exposure to the franchise was the 2011 series which was canned after 1 season. With ThunderCats Roar, I passed the announcement as just whatever. Cartoon Network is making a reboot that kids will be able to sit through regardless of quality. Been there, done that. I expected everyone else’s reaction to be similar: “Meh, you do you CN.” But instead, like Channel Awesome, this blew up like an Atomic Bomb. I would’ve been content if people called it bad, but they went out of there way to criticize and harass the people involved with the show. They then have the gaul to complain that it’s the same “CalArts style” as all the other shows airing today. Okay first of all, there’s no such thing as a “CalArts style.” It’s an insult to every alumni from that school to say they use a “CalArts style” in their work. Artists don’t go to art school to follow the style of said school. They go to art school to improve THEIR style. If you dare tell me Rebecca Sugar uses the same style as Tim Burton to create Steven Universe, I will not hesitate to tell you to shut up and call you a moron. Second, in case you didn’t read this post (https://a34trgv2.tumblr.com/post/174105320815/youre-not-a-fan-if-you-insult-people-who) harassing the creators of a show you don’t like (or in this case are not interested in) does not in anyway, shape, or form make you a fan. You’re a despicable insult to the human race who does not deserve to enjoy what you claim to enjoy. And if that wasn’t bad enough, just when this couldn’t get any worse…someone tweeted out a death threat to CalArts. *inhales* IS THIS SOME KIND OF JOKE??????!!!!!!!! Never in the history of animation has the phase “it’s just a cartoon” been more perfectly fitting. The fact that this person actually thought making a threat against students who are trying to get in to the film or tv industry make me sick. This is the kind of stupidity that makes me hate overblown controversies over otherwise small things that could’ve easily been avoided (do NOT assume I’m saying Obscurus Lupa should’ve remained silent; a simple private meeting would’ve made a big difference). Keep in mind, this all started when Cartoon Network announced a new show for their channel that worse case scenario won’t receive as high ratings as Teen Titans Go and will be shipped to Boomerang after 5 episodes. Seriously people, the next time this happens, do humanity a favor and DON’T make a big deal out of it. If CN annouces a reboot to, let’s say 2 Stupid Dogs, don’t make such a big fuss about it. If it looks like crap, it looks like crap. If it looks bland, it looks bland. You can have your debates on the quality of the show but don’t harass the people working on the show. I said it before and I’ll say it again: your opinion is NOT law -.-
